Julie Ann Ryan was born in Finchley and raised in Tottenham, North London; a stones throw away from the Tottenham Hotspurs football ground. She has spent the last two decades (13 of them on Colourful) presenting and producing radio. During this time Julie Ann has raised 2 children, obtained a degree in English Literature with Psychology while working various day jobs.

She has enjoyed her time on radio especially starting from the beginning on London Wide Radio (LWR). This was a time of total freedom and lots of fun working with some of the great DJ's and watching them perform at varies locations throughout London. After working on a number of independent radio stations Miss J also completed 2 radio courses and went on to become station manager of HCity radio which was partly funded by Haringey Council. Not long after her father passed away in 1997, Julie Ann organised and hosted a charity auction on behalf of Cancer Research. She has since gone on to host numerous fundraiser including one for the ACLT and recently the OCHI Awards on behalf of the Jags Foundation: she has also hosted open mic nights and a stage at Tottenham Carnival.

Although music is her passion, Julie Ann also likes to write, particular dialogue and fiction. At present she has a short novel in the works and is writing a sitcom which has gain the attention of a major TV channel:  It would be a dream come true to be able to finish both projects.
